
DAL GOSHT ( Dal Mutton Curry)
Dal Gosht is a delicious, comfort dish prepared out of lamb or mutton that is cooked in a soup of a variety of lentils and spices. The slow cooked meat should ideally fall off the bone for the perfect Dal Gosht. It is a perfect recipe to prepare during a weekday and enjoy with your friends and family. Dal and spices gives a twist to your usual mutton curry and tastes delicious.

Serves 4
INGREDIENTS

For the Dal Gosht
1 Cup split pigeon peas or chana dal
500g Mutton, small pieces
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp Ginger
1 tsp Garlic
For the Tarka
1 large onion, sliced
1 tsp Chilli powder
1 tbsp Coriander powder
1 tbsp Garam masala powder
Salt to taste
4 Tomatoes, chopped
Juice of 1 small lime
1 Cup water
Fried onions for garnish
Fresh mint leaves for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Wash and soak the split pigeon peas or chana dal for 30 minutes. In a pan add the dal, mutton, turmeric powder, chilli powder, ginger, salt, water bring to boil and put the lid on and cook for 45 minutes on a medium heat.
2. In a pan add oil and heat it up then add sliced onion, pinch of salt and then let them turn golden brown, reserve few for garnish.
3. Then add the tomatoes and cook them until they are soft then add the coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala.
4. Check the dal and add some water to it. Add the dal into the masala and mix in well. Cook for 5 minutes, garnish it with the onions, mint leaves and juice of half a lime.
Serve with Roti, Rice or Nan.
