1 cups Chana dal (split gram lentils) cooked 1 large red onion chopped 2 Tomatoes chopped 1/4 cup Oil 1 fresh green chilies deseeded and Chopped (optional) 1 tsp red chilli powder 2 tbs Achar (I have used Mango Pickle) 1 pinch Nigella seeds 1/2 tsp Black pepper 1 tsp cumin seeds 2 tbs dried fenugreek leaves Salt to taste 2 tbs cilantro chopped for garnish
1. Add water to a pan and bring to boil, wash, and add the chana dal to the boiling water. When cooked set aside.
2. Add oil in a pan, when it becomes hot add chopped onion and saute until golden brown. Then add cumin and cook for 1 minute.
3. Then add the chopped tomatoes and all spices, cook on medium heat for 5-8 mins. Then add the Achar and cook for 1 minute. Then add the cooked dal and mix well. Garnish with cilantro and serve.
Serve with Rice, Nan or Roti.
